Florida CB names 3 finalists, sets commitment date

Jamari Brown will announce his college choice soon.

Brown, a cornerback from Blanche Ely in Pompano Beach, Fla., will choose Auburn, Temple or Kentucky on Aug. 17.

“All are great schools and I could see myself at any of them,” Brown said.

Brown visited each of his three finalists during the summer.

“Temple has great coaches, a great DBs coach,” Brown said. “They said they could see me coming in and playing as a freshman.”

Playing early is important to Brown, as is having trusting relationships with the coaches. He feels like he has that at Kentucky with Eddie Gran, who is Brown’s area recruiter, and defensive backs coach Steve Clinksdale.

“They are great coaches and I really like it at Kentucky,” Brown said. “Kentucky is a great school and it’s in the SEC. My mom likes Kentucky, too. When I went up there, I knew it’s a place I could see myself playing at.”

Brown’s other SEC finalist is Auburn. He camped at Auburn in July and earned an offer.

“Auburn is a great place with great facilities,” Brown said. “The coaches, when they talk to me it’s like I’m talking to my friends. I’ve always liked Auburn. Auburn has a great atmosphere.”

Brown, who is 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds, doesn’t list a favorite among his three finalists.

“They are pretty even right now,” Brown said.
