AUBURN | Wenonah (Birmingham, Ala.) junior defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has wanted to play football at Auburn since he was a child.
He dreamed about one day being a Tiger.
Now, he's living it.
Williams, 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, became Auburn's fifth commitment in its 2016 class Saturday when he informed Gus Malzahn that he is committed to signing next February.
"He was really excited about it," Williams said. "He welcomed me to the Auburn family, and I'm really happy to be a part of it. I'm really excited about Auburn, and Auburn is really excited about me."
Williams and his father visited Saturday and spent time with Malzahn, Will Muschamp and Rodney Garner.
"That was real important for me," Williams said. "I've been an Auburn fan since I was a little kid, and it is overwhelming to me to see (the coaches) on T.V. almost every day and then to be standing beside them. It was my honor to just shake their hand."
Williams was impressed with all three coaches.
"Coach Malzahn is a humble, up-most and respectful Godly man. I really like talking to him," Williams said. "I also love Coach Muschamp. He is a great person to be around, and Coach Garner is a great guy to talk to. He's like a father figure."
Williams committed to Auburn after picking up an early offer from the Tigers. He also had an offer from Ole Miss and interest from several other schools.
But it didn't matter to Williams if other colleges offered or were interested. All that he cared about was getting an offer from the Tigers, and accepting it as quickly as possible.
"I am a big Auburn fan so this is like a dream come true," Williams said. "For the coaches to even come visit me was a dream come true."
Now he's set to play for them.
In six games as a junior, Williams had 38 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, six sacks and one forced fumble.
Williams joins five-star receiver Nate Craig, four-star safety Stephen Davis Jr., three-star tight end Landon Rice and three-star running back Jalin Buie in Auburn's 2016 class.
