Kyle Davis' recruitment has been a mystery for more than a year now.
He's a private person. He doesn't like interviews. He's almost impossible to read.
He's also planning to be an Auburn Tiger.
The four-star wideout surprised the recruiting world Wednesday with a straightforward tweet indicating a decision had been made. It read, in part, "I have officially committed to THE Auburn University. #WDE."
Davis adds significant allure to the Tigers' Class of 2016. He's a long, strong, reliable receiver who can provide game-breaking ability possibly as soon as next season. Auburn had its hopes up on Oct. 23, when Davis said he was planning to announce his decision prior to a home football game.
He changed his mind at the last minute. No decision was made.
Since then, Davis has declined interview requests and cut his discussions with school officials to the bare minimum. However, his announcement Wednesday morning changed everything.
Davis is expecting to graduate from Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., next month and plans to attend his first college class in January. He'll arrive to a depth chart ripe for ascending; top receiver Duke Williams was dismissed in September and Ricardo Louis, who has been the team's top producer since then, is a senior.
So is Melvin Ray, another Auburn starter.
Davis has caught 47 balls for 773 yards and six touchdowns this season for Archer, which is 11-1 and plays in the Georgia Class AAAAA quarterfinals this weekend.
