SUWANEE, Ga. | Greenville (Ala.) five-star Marlon Davidson is the No. 1 defensive prospect in the country, and he wanted everyone to know it Saturday at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour stop in Suwanee, Ga.
So he showed them.
Davidson, 6-foot-4 and 279 pounds, highlighted a defensive linemen group that included the No. 1 tackle, Derrick Brown, and the No. 6 tackle, Antwuan Jackson. The No. 5 tackle, four-star Julian Rochester, also was there, but didn't participate because of a shoulder injury.
"Everything went great," Davidson said. "I got a lot of reps, which I was really satisfied about. That's what I came here for, to get a lot of reps and get better."
It appeared he did both.
Davidson, performing in honor and memory of his mother, Cynthia Carter, who died in February, was named MVP of the defensive line group.
He won the award after winning some heated 1-on-1 performances against the No. 4 offensive tackle, E.J. Price, and the day's offensive line MVP, Tony Gray.
"It was intense," Davidson said. "I like it, though, when people make it a competition. I was just having fun.
"I think I did OK. I think I could have done better. I'm never satisfied with my performance. I always think I can be better."
Davidson's close friend and former teammate, Carver (Montgomery, Ala.) five-star linebacker Lyndell Wilson, also had a good camp. Wilson edged out another five-star prospect from Alabama, Gordo's Ben Davis, for the MVP of the linebacker group.
Davidson, Wilson and Davis all earned invites to participate in the Rivals100 Five-star Challenge Presented by Under Armour, which will be held in Baltimore, Md. in June. Jackson, Brown and defensive back Nigel Warrior, all Auburn targets, also earned invites to the Challenge.
Other MVPs from today's camp were Isaac Nauta (tight ends), junior William Poole (defensive backs), junior Shon Mitchell (quarterbacks) and Dylan Moses (running backs).
