Auburn received a commitment from one of its top linebacker targets last Friday, and could do the same with another top linebacker target this Friday.

Chandler Wooten, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound outside linebacker from North Cobb in Kennesaw, Ga., will announce his commitment to Auburn, Tennessee or Florida on Friday during halftime of NCHS's spring game.

The game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET. The announcement is expected at approximately 5:15 p.m. ET.

“I’m ready,” Wooten said. “I feel absolutely confident in my decision. I’ve known where I wanted to go for about three weeks now.”

Wooten has visited each of his three finalists, including a visit to Auburn for A-Day in April. The Tigers have been among Wooten’s leaders since early in his recruitment.

“I like how comfortable I am with Auburn and the coaching staff,” Wooten said. “I get along with everyone and feel like I would fit in great there academically and football-wise. I also would have a good opportunity to play and be a leader on defense.

"Those are just a couple of the reasons I’m very intrigued with Auburn.”

Another reason is Auburn’s first-year linebackers coach Travis Williams.

“I love Coach T-Will,” Wooten said. “As soon as he got the job he started recruiting me real hard. Since then we have built a great relationship and we talk on a regular basis. He’s a great guy who I would really like to play for.”

Wooten’s announcement will come one week after Jackson-Olin (Birmingham, Ala.) linebacker Tadarian Moultry committed to Auburn.

“I talked to (Moultry) the other day,” Wooten said. “Of course he would like me to play with him, but he wants me to do what’s best for me. He said he’d be happy with whatever I choose.”

Rivals ranks Wooten the No. 30 outside linebacker in the 2017 class and No. 41 overall player in Georgia.
