Greenville (Ala.) five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson will make his commitment a little earlier than expected.
The No. 1 strongside defensive end and No. 3 overall recruit initially planned a November or December announcement, but now has decided on Sept. 4.
"He wanted a team to have some good news going into the season," Greenville coach Josh McLendon said.
The first Saturday of the college football season is Sept. 5.
Davidson, 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, will make his commitment during a ceremony at Greenville High School.
"To all coaches and reporter the time for me is running out," Davidson's Twitter account read Thursday morning. "I'm ready to make my commitment September 4."
Davidson has visited Auburn several times, including last Saturday. He's also made trips to Alabama and Georgia.
"I don't know who he'll be choosing from," McLendon said. "There could be 12 hats on the table."
The time for Davidson's announcement has not been set.
Rivals ranks Davidson the No. 1 player in Alabama. He is on pace to graduate high school in December and enroll in college in January.
