Class of 2019 OL visits Auburn

AUBURN | Devontae Dobbs has nearly two years left before he has to make a college decision, but the offensive tackle from Belleville, Mich., isn’t waiting to do his research.

Dobbs, who is expected to be one of the top recruits in the 2019 class, already has traveled the country and visited several colleges, including Auburn, which he visited again on Tuesday.

“That was my second time at Auburn and it went really good,” Dobbs said. “I went to camp there last summer, but this time I got to watch practice and see the intensity of the offense and defense. I also got to see how the coaches coach and talk to the players and correct them. I liked everything. It was really good.”

Dobbs spoke with Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand before practice. The two first met last summer at camp when Dobbs performed well enough as a sophomore to earn an offer.

“I met with Coach Hand one-on-one (Tuesday),” Dobbs said. “He is a nice guy, a guy with high character on and off the field. He’s a great guy and coach.”

Dobbs, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, lists offers from Auburn, Michigan, Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Clemson and Wisconsin, among others. He doesn’t list any favorites.

“Auburn sits high, but everybody sits high,” Dobbs said. “I’m just taking as many visits as I can right now trying to learn as much as I can. I want to make the best decision and the most informed decision I can.”

Dobbs believes his research on Auburn isn't finished.

“I’m pretty sure I’ll be back again this year,” Dobbs said.
