AUBURN | One of the state's top prospects is less than two months away from announcing his college choice.
Central-Phenix City Rivals250 cornerback John Broussard, ranked the No. 13 cornerback prospect in 2016, will make his commitment on Thursday, May 7.
"I've been wanting to do it in May, I just needed to find the right day to do it," Broussard said. "I don't know all the details right now, just that I'm going to announce May 7."
Broussard, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, will decide between "Mississippi State, LSU, Auburn, Kentucky and Florida State."
Broussard doesn't have a favorite out of his top five.
"I'm not really sure at this time," he said. "I'm just going to keep taking visits and see if I can find the right fit."
Broussard has an offer from each of the schools in his top five, as well as offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Penn State, N.C. State and Louisville, among others.
Of his top five, Broussard has visited LSU, Auburn and Kentucky, and plans to visit Florida State on March 21 and Mississippi State soon after.
A return trip to Auburn also is planned.
"My parents and my little brother are coming with me Friday to Auburn," Broussard said. "We're looking forward to getting back to Auburn and seeing everything and talking to the coaches.
"We want to see all of the campus and facilities. We've seen a lot, but never had the chance to see it all. I also want my parents to get to know the coaches."
Rivals.com ranks Broussard the nation's No. 151 overall recruit and Alabama's No. 6 overall prospect.
