Trezevant (Memphis, Tenn.) junior running back Cordarrian Richardson already had impressed Tim Horton before the Auburn running backs coach arrived Tuesday for an evaluation visit.
That, or either Richardson had one of his better practices.
"When Coach Horton left he told my coaches that I had an offer from Auburn University," Richardson said.
Richardson, 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds, was excited to hear the news.
"It felt great," he said. "It's a big offer for me. It always feels great to get an SEC offer and Auburn is a big SEC offer."
It's an offer he will heavily consider. Richardson doesn't know much about Auburn, not as much as he'd like, but he hopes to change that with a visit.
"I know a little about their history," Richardson said. "I know they have had the SEC's leading rusher 16 times. I know they like to run the football so I most definitely want to get down there and check it out and learn more about it."
It's a visit he won't take lightly.
"That will be a big visit for me because I definitely like Auburn," Richardson said. "I like they are big in the SEC and I like that they run the ball a lot."
Richardson now claims offers from seven SEC schools. Auburn joins Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee and Vanderbilt on his offer list, which also includes Florida State and Arkansas State.
Richardson, who rushed for 1,100 yards and 21 touchdowns last season as a sophomore, doesn't plan to make an early decision.
"I don't have any favorites or anything like that," he said. "I'm still thinking about high school."
The method seems to be paying off, much like his performance Monday in practice.
