AUBURN | A large group of Auburn's top targets will be on campus this weekend for the Tigers' seventh annual "Big Cat" event.
The recruits, expected to be around 38, will check-in early on Saturday for a day of what traditionally has been a more relaxed and fun environment than a standard visit.
Recruits, many of whom will be accompanied by parents and family members, will participate together in games, group competitions and contests with the Auburn coaches and their families.
"I'm looking forward to it," Landon Rice, a standout tight end/defensive end from Calhoun, Ga., said. "I've heard a lot of good things about 'Big Cat' so I think it will be a lot of fun."
Rice is one of four Auburn commits planning to attend. He'll be joined by Rivals250 cornerback John Broussard, three-star defensive tackle David Marshall and four-star linebacker Tre Threat.
"We will be like extra recruiters," Rice said. "We're going to have a lot of fun, but we're also going to be working on getting some of the other guys committed."
At the top of Rice's wish list is a quarterback, and he'll get a chance to help the Tigers this weekend. Auburn's top target, Carver (Columbus, Ga.) Rivals250 four-star Jawon Pass, is expected to attend. Pass on Thursday set his commitment date for July 13. He'll commit to either Auburn, Alabama, Louisville or North Carolina.
Pass is one of 25 recruits ranked four-star or higher expected in Auburn on Saturday. That includes five four-star prospects, six from the Rivals250, eight from the Rivals100 and six more from the 2017 Rivals100 to Watch list.
The No. 1 defensive end, five-star Marlon Davidson, is planning to be in Auburn. So are the No. 1 wide receiver, five-star Nate Craig-Myers, the No. 2 defensive tackle, five-star Derrick Brown and the No. 4 wide receiver, Elijah Stove.
