In the end, the five-star and Rivals100 defensive lineman from Greenville (Ala.) High is glad he chose the in-state Tigers and not follow his friends -- five-star linebackers Lyndell Wilson and Ben Davis -- to LSU.
"It actually surprised me," Davidson said of Big Cat. "I wasn't even going to come. I was going to go to LSU and have some fun with Lyndell and Ben, but I decided to come out here and chill with my brother, make sure I spend some time with him before I go back to school.
"To come out here and see him and knowing I have a home here at Auburn felt good. Auburn is a great school."
Davidson is the younger brother of former Auburn defensive lineman and current Auburn analyst Kenneth Carter.
"I think I had more fun than I would of had at LSU," Davidson said.
Davidson said the highlight of Big Cat for him was the pie eating contest.
"That was kind of crazy. I was about to puke but I kept going and I came in second place," he said.
Davidson continues to keep recruiting close to the vest and not name any favorites. But his decision-making process will have to speed up soon. He's planning to take classes this summer in order to graduate in December and enroll at the school of his choice in January.
"By mid or early August I will be ready to put out my top eight," he said.
Davidson was on crutches after suffering a high ankle sprain last week during a workout, but said he'll be back to 100 percent soon.
"I'm really looking forward to playing again this year and showing more people I've really got a chance to be the best," he said.
