AUBURN | Auburn on Saturday hosted a top junior college cornerback target, JaMarcus King, as well as one of the state's top athletes, McAdory's Jay Jones.
Here is what the two had to say about their day at Big Cat...
NR CB JaMarcus King
Coffeyville, Kan. (Coffeyville C.C.) - Dec. graduate
On his visit…
"I liked it. I liked the attention the coaches showed me. They also talked to my coach and his wife and that made me feel wanted. This is my home state and that's what I like about it. They offered me. I liked being around the coaches and doing all the activities.
Where Auburn stands…
"They are on top. My high school (Blount), Dameyune Craig is our alumni and he recruited me. Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) is a cool coach. He made me feel like I was at home."
What's next…
"I'm not sure, yet. I'll visit Florida in two weeks and Baylor, and that will be all for now."
Other schools under consideration…
"Arizona State, Oklahoma and Missouri."
McCalla, Ala. (McAdory)
On his visit…
"It was great, one of the most exciting visits I've ever been on. The Big Cat idea is a great idea that a lot of schools are starting to copy like the Bayou Picnic. It was fun. We had pie-eating contests. I got Marlon Davidson good on Twitter, and I led my team in karaoke. We actually won. We were the Grimes' Growlers. We sang "Brickhouse" and "Superfreak."
Next visit…
"I'm coming back next week (June 7) for camp to throw in front of Coach Malzahn and Coach Lashlee. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm ready to make my commitment (in general)."
On what position he wants to play…
"I'm not changing to defense. The only other position that I would change to is receiver. Coach Malzahn and Coach Lashlee are ready to see me throw. They offered me as an athlete, but they want to see me throw in person before they offer at quarterback."
Where Auburn stands…
"I don't have a leader, but Auburn, Alabama and Florida are schools I'm looking at."
