AUBURN | Cornerback Myles Sims visited Auburn on Feb. 20 and toured the campus and facilities, met with the coaches and even received a scholarship offer.

There was only one thing Sims didn't have the chance to do. The sophomore from Westlake High in Atlanta wanted to see the Tigers practice.

So Sims returned to Auburn on Thursday.

“My dad and I came back because I wanted to see what practice is like,” Sims said. “I wanted to see the drills they do and also watch the coaches.”

Number one on Sims’ watch list was Auburn’s new secondary coach Wesley McGriff. The two met during Sims’ visit in February.

“But I wanted to see how he coaches his DBs,” Sims said. “And I did, and really liked it. He is a great coach and coaches his players hard.”

Sims, who is 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, also watched Auburn’s defensive backs. Two Tigers grabbed Sims’ attention.

Nick Ruffin stood out to me and so did No. 6 (Carlton Davis),” Sims said. “Davis is built like me, has length like me. I liked watching him. He’s really good.”

Sims has two early offers - the one from Auburn and one from Kentucky. He also is receiving interest from several schools, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee.

Sims doesn’t have a list of early favorites in his recruitment, but he does like Auburn. A third visit to the Plains is planned for Saturday, March 19.

“I really like the coaches,” Sims said. “I like Coach McGriff and think he is a great coach. I like Auburn a lot. I like the feel at Auburn. It’s already like another home for me.”
