Auburn offers, impresses 4-star ATH

AUBURN | Raymond Woodie III already has one of the nation’s most impressive offer lists for a 2019 prospect but that didn’t stop the four-star athlete from being fired up over adding one from Auburn Saturday.

"That was really exciting because Auburn is a school I’ve followed since I was young so it was really good to get the offer,” said Woodie, who has over 30 offers from schools across the country.

Woodie, 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, was in Auburn for a Junior Day. He was able to tour the campus and athletic facilities and speak to the coaches including defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and secondary coach Greg Brown.

“It was really fun. I liked the facilities, the food was real good and all the coaches were nice. I liked it,” he said. “I think they’ve got a lot of experience and they recruit really well and they develop guys for the NFL. That’s something I like about the staff.”

Woodie, who recently moved to Florida State University School in Tallahassee, Fla, after his father was hired as FSU’s linebacker coach, lists Auburn among his early favorites along with Oregon, Arkansas, Cal and Notre Dame.

He plans to graduate school early and enroll at the school of his choice in January.

“Everybody is going to get an honest shot,” Woodie said. “I’ve got to be my own person at the end of the day. Whatever school feels the best is where I’m going to go to. Every school is 100 percent open for me.

“Probably playing time and relationship with the coaches will really play into it. I really like a family atmosphere too.”
