AUBURN | Auburn made a good impression on four-star recruit Kedrick James – good enough to secure a future visit from the No. 10-ranked tight end.

James, his mother, brothers and sister were in Auburn Wednesday and left with plans to return in the fall.

“The visit was great,” James said. “The environment with the staff and the players I talked to, it’s just not football. It’s a great program. It’s a loving environment and that’s really one of the main reasons I’ll be keeping my eye on Auburn.”

James, who is from La Vega High in Waco, Texas, toured the Tigers’ campus and facilities for the first time and liked what he saw.

“I saw a lot of things that you don’t normally see at colleges, which makes Auburn different,” James said. “The dorms are different and they have a bigger recreational center than most colleges. It’s a great environment.”

James and family also met extensively with Auburn tight ends coach Scott Fountain.

“He’s a very good dude,” James said. “He’s very smart when it comes to football. He’s very easy to talk to and he makes you feel welcome. He’s a comforting person that I could see myself being around a lot.”

James will be around Fountain at least once more.

“I’ll definitely be back for a game,” James said. “If not the first game against Clemson, it will be for the LSU game. I’ll probably make it an official visit.”

Auburn was James’ first visit of the summer. His second will be Alabama, which he’ll visit on Thursday and Friday. He also plans a trip to Arkansas before the season begins.

“The main schools I’m looking at are Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas and Michigan,” James said. “I’m going to choose which college I think will get my skill set ready for me to go to the next level and play pro.”

James, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 245 pounds, plans to wait and make his college choice on Signing Day.
