Auburn guard out for the season

Auburn junior guard Frankie Sullivan will miss the rest of the season because of his left knee injury in July. Averaging 8.2 points and 3.0 assists in 24.7 minutes per game, he played in Auburn's six games prior to SEC play and hasn't played since.

Sullivan joined the starting lineup for the Tigers four game winning streak beginning against USC Upstate on Dec. 21. He averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent (4-of-10) from 3-point range in the first two games vs. USC Upstate and Georgia Southern.

In his last two games vs. Grambling and Florida State, he has averaged 4.5 points.

"Frankie Sullivan means so much to our team, on and off the court," said Auburn head coach Tony Barbee. "He is a team leader.

Frankie's health is our number one concern with him."

Sullivan put together a nice line in his third game back vs. USC Upstate on Dec. 21 with 14 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals in 28 minutes. He followed that up with 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals

in the overtime win over Georgia Southern on Dec. 29. He hit a huge jumper with 46 seconds remaining in overtime with the shot clock winding down to give Auburn a three point lead.

Sullivan played nine minutes at South Florida on Dec. 15 in his first game action of the season after coming back from his injury on July 27. He drained a 3-pointer with a second left, was fouled and made the free throw as Auburn closed to within 28-24 at halftime. He finished with four points, two assists and two steals.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Uniontown, Ala., native averaged 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season. Sullivan shot 43

percent from the field, 37 percent from 3-point range and was second in the SEC shooting 85 percent from the foul line.

He scored a career-high 27 points in last year's SEC Tournament first round loss to Florida.

Sullivan missed Auburn's opening eight games this year and has not played in a SEC game. Auburn will apply for a medical hardship waiver for him.
