Auburn finalist for top pass rusher

AUBURN | Caleb Tannor decommitted from Georgia in November. Next fall, he could be lining up against the Bulldogs.

Tannor, a four-star outside linebacker from Miller Grove in Lithonia, Ga., officially visited Auburn this weekend and has the Tigers among his favorites.

"Just the vibe that I had with the players and the coaches,” said Tannor on what stood out about his weekend in Auburn.

Tannor, 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, was in Florida a week earlier and Nebraska a week before that. He plans to officially visit either Florida State or Miami next weekend and announce a decision on Signing Day, which is Feb. 7.

He lists his current top three as Auburn, Florida and Nebraska, but didn’t rule out Florida State or Miami moving in there after a visit.

The Tigers and Gators would give Tannor an opportunity to play against Georgia every season, which could be a big factor in his final decision.

“Definitely. You guys will see,” said Tannor about wanting to play against Georgia.

Tannor said it was “real close” between Auburn and Georgia when he first committed back in July.

And it sounds a lot like his final decision this go around will come down to Auburn and Florida.

“Just the place that's right for me that I can call home for the next four years,” Tannor said. “They've both got the same things I need to look at. Same pros and cons. There are really no cons, to be honest. I've just got to pray about it and stuff like that. Then we'll see.”

Tannor has already hosted Florida coach Dan Mullen on an in-home visit and will host Auburn’s Gus Malzahn next week. Malzahn told him Sunday he could make an instant impact as a pass rusher at Auburn.

“He wants me to come play early. I’ve got an opportunity to play early at the Buck position,” Tannor said.
