Auburn 'feels like home' to 2018 OT

AUBURN | Just days after picking up an offer, John Campbell was in Auburn Saturday for a Junior Day. The 2018 offensive tackle from Dr. Phillips in Orlando, Fla., was clearly impressed.

“It feels like home. It's like a nice, quiet town. When it comes to football, Auburn is SEC,” Campbell said.

Campbell, 6-foot-5 and 261 pounds, also has offers from Miami, Oregon, Missouri, Tennessee, UCF, USF, East Carolina and Charlotte. His Auburn offer came last Thursday.

“It meant a lot,” he said. “I put in a lot of hard work and time over these past couple of months and I'm realizing that time is ticking down and I'm about to come to my senior year and I've got to put in work.”

Campbell is a former teammate of Auburn offensive tackle commit Calvin Ashley.

“I know him pretty well. I've known him since middle school,” Campbell said. “And high school, I played with him then.”

Campbell doesn't plan to make a final decision until next year’s Signing Day. While he doesn’t have an official list of favorites, one school certainly stands out.

“If I had a list, Auburn would be in the top two,” Campbell said. “It's just a great coaching staff. I feel like all the coaches will push me to my maximum potential.”

Campbell plans to return to Auburn this summer.
