Auburn announces signing of Tyrell Lynch

Tyrell Lynch, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward from Niagara Falls, N.Y., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Auburn University and play basketball in 2007-08, head coach Jeff Lebo announced Friday.
"We are excited about Tyrell joining our basketball program," Lebo said. "We have a need for an inside power player, and he fulfills that.

"He has the ability to put it on the floor, is a great passer and is a good, physical body. He can adapt quickly to the college game because he is physical."
Lynch chose the Tigers over offers from Providence, Nebraska and Missouri. He also received recruiting attention from Iowa State, Kansas State and Ole Miss.
Lynch is playing at Laurinburg (N.C.) Prep this year and is averaging 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 20 minutes a game as the team is 9-3. He averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds as a senior at Niagara Falls High in 2005-06.
He is expected to play both power forward and small forward at Auburn. Lynch will have five years to play four.
Lynch is AU's lone signee for the early period. The Tigers are looking to sign one more big man in the spring signing period, which gets underway Apr. 11.
