AUBURN | Central (Phenix City, Ala.) Rivals250 cornerback John Broussard has his mother's blessing to sign with Auburn.
And she didn't have to say anything for him to know. It was obvious.
After Broussard, his mother, father and younger brother all spent Friday in Auburn on an unofficial visit, it was easy for him to see.
"My mom … they won my mom over," Broussard said.
The win for the Tigers came after Broussard and family met extensively throughout the day with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and secondary coach Travaris Robinson.
Broussard, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, also sat in on Auburn's defensive backs meeting and watched walk-throughs on the practice fields where he met former Auburn and NFL great Kevin Greene.
"I had a great time," Broussard said. "I finally got to see all of the facilities, and had a great time meeting with the coaches, being in the meetings with the players and my parents finally got to visit.
"We ate with Coach Muschamp, went to the dorms, sat in position meetings, the team meetings, watched walk-throughs and talked to Coach Malzahn. It was great."
The family capped the visit by watching with Malzahn and Robinson the closing minutes of Auburn basketball's thrilling overtime win over LSU.
"It was great visit because my parents finally got to visit," Broussard said. "My parents hadn't met (the coaches) so it was a great visit because they finally (did)."
The visit further solidified Auburn as a school Broussard is seriously considering.
"I like the atmosphere and the love that I get when I come here," he said. "I have great relationships with the coaches. Auburn is a successful school. I like everything about Auburn."
Broussard stopped short, however, of naming the Tigers his leader.
"Auburn is one of the teams at the top of my list, but I don't want to list my schools (in order) because I haven't had the chance to visit them all," he said. "I don't want to say who's at the top right now."
Broussard plans to visit Florida State on March 28, and also hopes to visit both Mississippi State and Kentucky soon. The four-star cornerback is set to announce May 7 between Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, Kentucky and LSU.
Broussard and his father both plan to return to Auburn on Saturday to watch the Tigers practice. Mom apparently has seen all she needs to.
"My dad, he's with me with all the schools," Broussard said. "But (Auburn) won my mom over."
Rivals.com ranks Broussard the nation's No. 151 overall recruit, the No. 13 cornerback and Alabama's No. 6 overall prospect.
