"I want to talk with my coaches and figure out where I'm going to take my official visits," Childs said. "But Auburn is probably one of the schools I'll be going to."
Childs, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward from Bingham High in South Jordan, Utah, received an offer from Auburn on June 9. His interest level in the Tigers has increased significantly since.
"I absolutely have interest in Auburn," Childs said. "I talk to Coach (Chuck) Person quite a bit and I talk to Coach (Harris) Adler as well. Coach (Bruce) Pearl's reputation speaks for itself.
"I love the coaches and it's an SEC school. It would be a good place to develop my game, and a place that would really give me a shot to be successful."
Childs has offers from Auburn, Arizona State, BYU, Boise State, Idaho State, Utah State and Wyoming, and is receiving interest from a number of schools including Marquette, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Utah and Vanderbilt, among others.
Childs would like to have his decision made in time for the early signing period (Nov. 11-18).
"I'll narrow it down to five at the end of the month and take my visits in August and September," Childs said.
One likely will be to Auburn.
Childs averaged 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 blocks in 24 games as a junior.
