Greenville (Ala.) five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson committed to Auburn on Sept. 4, but his recruitment isn't over.
Davidson, ranked the No. 1 strongside end in the 2016 class, still has several visits to take.
"I'm about 75 percent committed right now," Davidson said. "I still feel good about Auburn, but I'm not 100 percent, yet. I want to take some visits and make sure Auburn is where I want to go."
Another SEC Western team will have a chance to change his mind this weekend. Davidson is scheduled to be in Baton Rouge on Saturday at the LSU-Florida game for an unofficial visit.
And then he has five official visits to take, and plans to take all of them. Davidson will take official visits to Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Michigan.
"I haven't set any dates for the visits," Davidson said. "I'll probably take them all after our season."
Davidson isn't taking the visits for fun.
"I'm going to keep an open mind when I take my officials," Davidson said. "You never know after I take them I might change my mind and commit to somebody else."
Auburn's slow start to the season -- the Tigers are 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the SEC -- isn't Davidson's cause for concern.
He's looking at much more than wins and losses.
"I'm not worried about how a team is doing, a winning streak or losing streak," Davidson said. "It's about what I like and where I fit into, as well as where I can get the most playing time and the best education and who will have the better players."
Davidson in January will play with and against some of the country's best high school players. He's scheduled to receive his Under Armour All-America Game jersey Thursday during a presentation at Greenville High.
The game will be played Jan. 2, 2016 in Orlando, Fla., and Davidson isn't taking the honor lightly.
"It's big for me knowing I'm the first person from Greenville to play in this game," Davidson said. "I've worked my butt off to get to this point, and just knowing that and how much I've progressed, I'm going to cherish it and do my very best when I get there."
Davidson hopes to have graduated by game time. He remains on pace to finish high school in December and enroll at his college of choice in January.
Davidson has 35 tackles in seven games this season, including 15 tackles-for-loss and seven sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
Rivals ranks Davidson the No. 2 player in Alabama and the No. 8 overall recruit in the country.
