4-star DB has plan for recruitment, which includes return trip to Auburn

Jamien Sherwood has a plan for the rest of his recruitment, one that he hopes will help in making the best possible decision for his future.

Sherwood, a four-star safety from Jansen Beach, Fla., already has visited several schools and will visit a few more this summer. He then will name five schools in August, each of which will get an official visit, and make his commitment before the December signing period.

“Once I get a top five, I will probably be done with my recruitment with other schools and just focus on those five schools,” Sherwood said. “Those will be the schools I’ll take official visits to.”

Florida, Miami, Michigan, Auburn, Alabama, North Carolina and USC are among the schools Sherwood has visited. He hopes to add Oregon, Ole Miss, Indiana, Notre Dame and Tennessee to the list before September.

“I want to take more visits so I can really know which schools are my top schools,” Sherwood said.

Next up for Sherwood could be a return trip to Auburn, which would be his third visit to Auburn since the spring. Sherwood visited for the Tigers’ A-Day game in April and again for Big Cat on June 3.

“They are having a picnic on July 22, and I’m going to try and make it back for that,” Sherwood said. “I texted with Coach (Greg) Brown, Coach (Kevin) Steele and Coach (Gus) Malzahn the other day. We were just wishing each other a happy Fourth (of July). We also texted last week, just asking how each other were doing, and they told me about the picnic.”

Sherwood also could visit Florida for its Friday Night Lights event, as well as Miami for its Paradise Camp. He doesn’t have any other visits planned at this time.

“I’ve been trying to get out to Oregon, but plane tickets are expensive,” Sherwood said. “But I want to get out there before I make my list, and I’ll also probably make a stop at Ole Miss if I go to Auburn (July 22).”

Sherwood, who is 6-foot-2 and weighs 200 pounds, is ranked by Rivals as the No. 17 safety in the 2018 class, No. 181 in the Rivals250 and No. 39 overall player in Florida. He is scheduled to graduate in December and enroll in college in January.
