AUBURN | Bruce Pearl will receive the first signed National Letter of Intent for the 2016 recruiting class the first minute he's allowed, and Worth County (Ga.) power forward Anfernee McLemore will be the sender.
McLemore is one of three commitments that will sign with Auburn in the early signing period, which begins Wednesday at 7 a.m. ET and ends Nov. 18.
"I will be officially signed at 7 a.m.," McLemore said. "I am having my signing ceremony on Friday at 9 a.m., but that signing will just be a copy (of the NLI)."
Pearl will have the original.
McLemore's classmates will be Sacred Heart (Conn.) five-star shooting guard Mustapha Heron and Pebblebrook (Ga.) four-star point guard Jared Harper.
Rivals.com ranks Heron the No. 21 player in the country. Harper is ranked No. 52.
The trio currently ranks No. 11 in the country and No. 3 in the SEC. Only Kentucky (3) and Mississippi State (6) have classes from SEC schools ranked higher than Auburn entering Wednesday.
That has a lot to do with Heron.
Heron will become the highest-ranked player to sign with Auburn since Rivals started ranking players more than 15 years ago. He chose Auburn over offers from Kansas, Maryland, N.C. State, UCLA and Mississippi State, among others.
"He's ready to sign with Auburn," Bryan Heron, Mustapha's father, said. "He plans to have a ceremony on Thursday at his high school. It'll be at 9 a.m. ET."
Harper is scheduled to sign with Auburn on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
