AUBURN | Zahir Turner turned some serious heads when he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the start of Auburn’s skill camp Saturday.

After following that up with a strong performance in 1-on-1 drills, the 2018 wide receiver from Booker T. Washington in Miami, Fla., received some good news from Gus Malzahn.

“Once I got the offer I was very excited,” Turner said. “I didn't expect it but I came to the camp and worked my butt off.

“It means a lot to have an offer from an SEC school. It’s big-time.”

Turner, 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, was visiting Auburn for the first time along with a number of his teammates.

“It's a very good school,” he said. “I like the way it looks and it's big enough. The coaches are good.”

Turner said he really liked the time he spent with Auburn assistant coach Kodi Burns.

“He's a very good receivers coach. I like the way he coaches. I like how he expects a lot out of us,” Turner said.

Turner now has offers from Auburn, Illinois, FAU, FIU and Temple. He doesn’t have any early favorites and plans to take his time with a decision.

“I have time,” he said. “I've talked it over with my parents and they told me my time will come, just wait for it.”
