2018 DE/LB commits to Auburn, his 'dream school'
Booker T. Washington defensive end/linebacker Robert Hicks needed only an offer from Auburn to end his recruitment early.
The offer arrived last week.
“I have been a fan of Auburn my whole life,” Hicks said. “Auburn was always my dream school. After I got the offer, I talked it over with my family and my coaches and they said it would be a good fit. I do, too."
Hicks announced his commitment to Auburn on Tuesday.
"I visited Auburn last summer and love it there," Hicks said.
Auburn secondary coach/co-defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff is recruiting Hicks. The relationship between the two is a budding one.
“I plan on going to Auburn this summer to get to know him and the other coaches a lot better,” Hicks said. “I’m looking forward to going. I can’t wait to get back.”
Hicks, who is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, recorded 99 tackles, including 71 solos and 13 sacks as a sophomore for the 5A state champions.
The defensive end/linebacker is the second sophomore to commit to Auburn’s 2018 class. Quarterback Joey Gatewood committed to the Tigers in December.
