2017 QB de-commits

2017 Rivals100 dual-threat quarterback Lowell Narcisse has re-opened his recruitment.

Dual-threat quarterback Lowell Narcisse Jr. no longer is committed to Auburn.

The junior from Saint James, La. announced his de-commitment from the Tigers Tuesday morning on Twitter.

"After praying and talking with my family I've decided to decommit from Auburn,” Narcisse’s tweet read.

He had been committed to Auburn since July.

“I think I rushed and made a premature decision,” the tweet read. “I still plan to communicate and nurture a relationship with them. But at this time I will open my recruitment back up.”

Narcisse sat out the regular season in 2015 as he recovered from a knee injury he suffered in the spring game. He made a surprising return in the playoffs and completed 23-of-36 passes for 296 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions in three games. He also rushed for 305 yards and four touchdowns on 50 carries.

The impressive numbers came with a price. Narcisse left St. James’ final game, a 41-14 loss to Lutcher, after apparently re-injuring his knee.

Narcisse, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 205 pounds, earned an Auburn offer following his sophomore season in which he was 205 for 358 passing for 3,124 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Narcisse also rushed for 1,402 yards and five scores.

Rivals.com ranks left-handed Narcisse the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, No. 72 in the Rivals100 and No. 3 in the state of Louisiana.

Auburn now has three commitments in its 2017 class: five-star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley, four-star athlete/running back Alaric Williams and three-star safety Carlito Gonzalez.
