AUBURN | Greenville five-star Marlon Davidson was in Auburn on Sunday, but the No. 1 strongside defensive end wasn't there for recruiting purposes.
Not primarily.
"Just hanging out with my brother," Davidson said. "Seeing the coaches and making sure I talk to them, but mainly my brother. I don't get to see him most of the time because he's working."
Davidson's brother, Ken Carter, works in Auburn's football operations department. Carter also played at Auburn (2010-13), and younger brother is considering doing the same.
Davidson, 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds, has visited Auburn several times and plans to return again on Saturday, but Auburn isn't the only school he's visited or plans to revisit.
Davidson was at Georgia on Saturday for "Dawg Night," and will make a trip to Tuscaloosa on Thursday to visit Alabama.
"('Dawg Night') was a great experience," Davidson said. "Being around all the Georgia coaches, talking to Mark Richt and seeing a lot of people that I've been around before. We just had a laid-back day, sitting around playing Hacky Sack, doing all types of things, just having fun."
Davidson plans to visit Clemson, Florida and LSU before trimming his list to 10, something he plans to do in November. He doesn't currently list any leaders.
"Everything is still the same," Davidson said. "I want to narrow it down by the end of November. I'm still on track to graduate early (December). I'll narrow it down to 10 schools and then five."
Auburn likely makes both cuts. Davidson's brother living and working in Auburn, along with Davidson's relationships with area recruiter Travaris Robinson and defensive line coach Rodney Garner, are advantageous for the Tigers.
"My relationship with T-Rob is getting stronger and stronger every day," Davidson said. "We talk on the phone. We socialize. We talk like brothers, but at the end of the day he's still a grown-up and he is probably going to be my coach or he could be my best friend.
"Me and Coach Garner have been talking since my brother (Carter) was a senior. He talks like a dad to me. We have a great relationship. Every day I get closer and closer with him, and hopefully I'll get closer and closer with more coaches like that along the way."
Davidson will take five official visits in the fall before making a decision. He will take official visits to Auburn and Alabama, and is considering ones to Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and USC, among others.
Rivals.com ranks Davidson the No. 3 overall player in the 2016 class.
