Jesuit TE chose Bearcats
One of the final high profile recruits left on many teams' radars, Jesuit High School tight end Travis Johnson, finally announced his commitment on National Signing Day, signing with the Cincinnati Bearcats Wednesday morning. Johnson announced his choice at Jesuit High School's signing day event at 7:15 am in the President's boardroom.
A Rivals.com three-star recruit, Johnson's decision comes to great disappointment to Bulls fans. USF had been one of the final schools on the tight end's list with Cincinnati and Miami. Johnson made visits to Tampa, Cincinnati and Missouri during the recruiting process.
The Bulls seemed to be in contention for the Rivals.com 11th ranked tight end in the nation, all the way up till Tuesday night when Johnson tweeted out that he had made his final choice and was ready to announce. Cincinnati made a hard push for Johnson in the final week of recruiting, going as far as to sending first year head coach Tommy Tubberville to one of Johnson's basketball games last Thursday.
Johnson represents the final option for the Bulls at tight end for the 2013 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 231-pound, Tampa native will be a an instant impact player. USF will be left with two incumbents at tight end for 2013; sophomore Sean Price and redshirt junior Mike McFarland.
