- NCAA Division I women's basketball vice president Sue Donohoe commenting on the NCAA's grant program which awarded $750,000 to 14 selected institutions [including UCLA] to promote increased attendance for games.



Championship season is almost over at the Creek as Arizona State remains as the lone conference team still pursuing the final NCAA title in baseball and track and field while the conference made a deal with ESPNU to televise the Pac-10 Year in Review.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton and the Omni Tucson national Resort in Tucson will be two of the regional host sites for men's golf in 2010.





USC

In men's hoop, two more USC recruits were lost by the Trojans in the wake of former head coach Tim Floyd's resignation.



WSU

In football, Wazzu received a verbal commitment from defensive back Damante Horton while Tyree Toomer and LeAndre Daniels were suspended indefinitely for their roles in an alleged bike theft.

In soccer, Wazzu received a verbal commitment from forward-midfielder Roslyn Pontius.

In track and field, Jeshua Anderson won his second consecutive NCAA men's 400-meter title while men's discus tosser Matt Lamb finished fifth and junior javelin tosser Marissa Tschida finished sixth at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.



Arizona

In football, Arizona received a verbal commitment from receiver Garic Wharton.



Oregon State

In football, head coach Mike Riley was named to the Board of Trustees of the AFCA [American Football Coaches Association].



Oregon

In track and field, the Ducks finished second in both men's and women's NCAA Track & Field Championships last week.



UCLA

In men's hoop, freshman guard Jrue Holiday has left the program and will be eligible for the NBA draft.



Washington

In football, Washington received a verbal commitment from receiver Keanon Lowe.



California

In men's track and field, senior men's discus tosser Martin Maric won the NCAA title.



Stanford

In women's hoop, senior Jayne Appel will miss much of the summer while rehabbing from knee surgery.



Arizona State

In football, the Sun Devils received a verbal commitment from linebacker Carl Bradford.
