The Starting Five

Throughout football season, PowerMizzou.com put together our weekly list of the 11 Tigers who had the best week in a feature called Tuesday's Top Tigers. With basketball season now in full swing, we put a hoops twist on that feature. Each Tuesday from now through the end of the season, PowerMizzou.com will honor the top Tiger basketball players in a feature called The Starting Five. After this week, the list will consist of the five players who had the best preceeding week. However, for the initial feature, we pick the five Tigers who have had the top performances through the first nine games.

The Starting Five
1 DeMarre Carroll, F Carroll leads the Tigers in minutes, points and rebounds. In the season's most critical game so far (USC), Carroll posted a season-high 26 points. N/A
2 Leo Lyons, F Lyons is second on the team in scoring and Missouri's most dangerous offensive player. He is tied for the team lead in rebounds and has been a great passer most of the year. N/A
3 Matt Lawrence, G/F Many fans already had Lawrence coming off the bench at this point. He is the team's third-leading scorer, but is on this list more for what he has done in other areas. Lawrence has vastly improved his rebounding and passing ability so far this season. N/A
4 J.T. Tiller, G Tiller averages just under seven points a game, but it is everything else he does that has him on the list. Tiller is a ferocious defender, leading the team in steals. He also ties for the team lead in assists and grabs three rebounds a game. He brings an energy to the court that no other Tiger can. NR
5 Kimmie English, G English looks to have taken over the role of sixth man and has really turned it up offensively in the last three or four games. His shot is starting to fall and the defense has come along. Of the six-man recruiting class, English has had the best start to the season. N/A
