BROTZMAN NAMED WAC SPECIAL TEAMS POTW
BOISE, Idaho - Kyle Brotzman earned the fourth Western Athletic Conference football player of the week award for Boise State University this season when he was named the special teams player of the week following the Broncos 24-7 win at the University of Southern Mississippi.
A sophomore from Meridian, Idaho (Meridian HS), Brotzman was successful on his lone field goal attempt in the game from 32 yards, made all three of his extra point attempts and averaged 39.7 yards per punt on six attempts. His longest punt was 63 yards with two punts being downed inside the 20-yard line.
This is the fourth time in Brotzman's two-year career at Boise State he has won the weekly award. He was honored three times last year as a freshman following games against the University of Nevada, Fresno State and the University of Hawai'i.
Previous 2008 winners for the Broncos this year include twice for quarterback Kellen Moore (Oregon and Louisiana Tech), and safety Jeron Johnson following Boise State's win against Bowling Green State University.
The Broncos are back in action this Friday (Oct. 17) against Hawai'i. Kickoff is set for 6:01 p.m. (MT) and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
