QB choice likely to be a gameday decision
Rick Stockstill indicated he might like to announce his quarterback plans for the season opener against Troy well in advance of the game.At one time during fall camp, Middle Tennessee head coach
With Joe Craddock and Dwight Dasher continuing to battle each other during practices though, it appears any thought of an early announcement is now out the window.
"I lied," Stockstill said with a laugh while recalling his earlier comments about the position. "It's going to be a gameday decision, I'll let you know on gameday."
Junior receiver Patrick Honeycutt said no matter who the choice ends up being, it won't affect the team's preparation leading up to gameday, nor will it affect the rhythm between the wideouts and quarterbacks.
"We trust the coaches that they are going to put the best man out there for us to win," Honeycutt said, "so whoever they put [on the field] it's going to be the same deal."
Stockstill has said previously that he felt like Craddock was the more consistent performer at the beginning of fall camp but that Dasher has significantly improved his play as preseason drills have continued.
Last year, the two combined for 21 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.
