Gunning for that #1 Spot at NIKE Camp.

UNION, NJ - On Thursday, during a scrimmage at the Steve Nash Nike Skills Academy at Kean University in NJ, New York's number one player got an opportunity to play against the nation's number one player.

According to Yasien Beatty who plays for the Kean Cougars observed a scrimmage where Lance Stephenson of Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY played as John Wall of Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh,NC.

Stephenson, who arrived late, was subbed into the game for the Black team and according to Beatty immediately proceeded to destroy the competition.

The first victim was Wall, who's touted as the number one player in nation in the 2009 class. As Wall defended Stephenson he was hit with a cross over for one basket and then subsequently scored at will.

So much so that the White team coached yelled out, "Can anyone on this team guard that guy. As a matter of fact can anyone cover him."

Next up was Mfon Udofia of Miller Grove in Lithonia, GA. Stephenson again scored from both inside and out.

In the second half, Kendall Marshall of Bishop O'Connell in Arlington, VA tried his hand at covering the junior phenom from Brooklyn but the demolition continued

The White team coach was forced to call a time and even explained to his team that Stephenson was attempting and succeeding at going one-on-one and even offered advice on how to defend him.

Unfortunately for the White Team, the advice fell on deaf ears and Stephenson not only scored at will but blocked shots, got steal and pretty much single handedly dominated the game.

Clearly, New York's own Lance Stephenson was attempting to set the record straight concerning who really has that number one spot.

Wall seemed comfortable in the open court but struggled when it came down to playing half court sets.

On Friday during the workouts, NYCHoops asked Stephenson about the camp. Stephenson responded, "I've learned a lot of things that I didn't know and I intend to incorporate them into my game."

When asked about going at Wall and his stellar performance during Thursday's scrimmage NYCHoops asked Stephenson was he trying to prove that he was #1, he responded, "Yeah, and I did it too."
