- UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero, acknowledging new head football coach Rick Neuheisel's 51 NCAA violations from his stints as head coach at Colorado and Washington.



The first week of 2008 at the Creek brought a pleasant conclusion to the bowl game season for the conference as USC rolled over Illinois and gave the Pac-10 a 4-2 record for the bowl games this season.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the NCAA office is closed this week.





Oregon

In football, the Ducks defeated South Florida, 56-21, in the Sun Bowl, to finish 9-4 on the year.

In men's hoop, sophomore forward Joevan Catron is out for a month after suffering a tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot.



WSU

In men's hoop, 4th-ranked Wazzu defeated North Carolina A&T, to remain undefeated on the year at 12-0 with a 39 RPI.

In women's hoop, the Cougars lost to Stanford and California to drop to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in Pac-10 play with a 245 RPI.



Washington

In football, the Huskies have reportedly hired UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker but the hiring has not been officially confirmed.




UCLA

In football, the Bruins hired Rick Neuheisel as head football coach.

In men's hoop, junior guard Michael Roll ruptured a tendon in his left foot and is expected to be out indefinitely.



California

In football, the Bears defeated Air Force, 42-36, in the Armed Forces Bowl, to finish the year at 7-6 overall.

In men's hoop, sophomore guard Jerome Randle was named as the conference's player of the week.



USC

In football, the Trojans defeated Illinois, 49-17, in the Rose Bowl, to finish 11-2 on the year.



Stanford

In women's hoop, the Cardinal swept Washington and WSU to improve to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play with a 3 RPI.



Oregon State

In football, the Beavers defeated Maryland, 21-14, in the Emerald Bowl to finish the year at 9-4 overall.



Arizona State

In football, the Sun Devils lost to Texas, 52-34, in the Holiday Bowl, to finish 10-3 on the year.

In women's hoop, junior guard Danielle Orsillo is lost for the season due to a knee injury. Junior center Sybil Dosty was named as the conference's player of the week.



Arizona

In men's hoop, freshman guard Jerryd Bayless is out indefinitely with a knee injury.
