The Creek was busting its buttons with conference pride as both men's and women's hoops all-conference academic teams were announced and WSU dominated the men's first team with three selections while Arizona State had the most on the women's first team with two.

The Director's Cup standings were updated and the Pac-10 is well represented as all teams are in the Top 75 with Stanford leading the way in the second slot, followed closely by California in the third and USC in eighth.

Meanwhile at NCAA HQ, women's volleyball athlete Courtney Thompson from Washington and Stanford cross country athlete Amanda Trotter were named as recipients of the NCAA's Postgraduate Scholarship for Autumn 2006.




Washington

In men's hoop, assistant coach Cameron Dollar interviewed for the head coaching vacancy at Long Beach State.



Oregon State

The Beavers hired Alabama assistant Dave Ungerer as their new special teams coach.



California

Sophomore pitcher Tyson Ross was named as the national Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.




WSU

In men's hoop, head coach Tony Bennett was named as the national Coach of the Year by Rivals.

In swimming, senior record-breaking swimmer Erin McCleave has qualified for the 800m final at the Spring Nationals in New York.

In tennis, junior Ekaterina Burduli was named as the conference's player of the week.



Arizona

In volleyball, former Wildcat player Allison Napier was named as an assistant coach.




Arizona State

In men's hoop, sophomore forward Sylvester Seay has elected to transfer.

In women's hoop, the Sun Devils beat Bowling Green in the Sweet 16 but lost to Rutgers in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament to finish their season at 31-5.



Stanford

In women's tennis, the Cardinal returned to the top spot in the national poll this week after skunking Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, 7-0 to improve to 12-1 overall.



Oregon

In men's hoop, the Ducks beat UNLV in the Sweet 16 but lost to Florida in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament to finish their season at 29-8 overall.

In women's hoop, Oregon lost to Wyoming in the WNIT quarterfinals to finish their season at 17-14 overall.



UCLA

In men's hoop, the Bruins beat Pittsburgh in the Sweet 16 and Kansas in the Elite 8 to improve to 30-5 overall and advance to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament, where they will play defending national champion Florida.



USC

In men's hoop, the Trojans lost to North Carolina in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament to finish their season at 25-12 overall.

Junior linebacker Brian Cushing pulled a hamstring and will be out for much of spring practice.
