Kevin Durant's numbers eventually became too difficult to overlook.

And his position on the court also was hard to overlook.

The freshman phenom from Texas has been listed as a small forward all season in the Rivals.com Basketball Power Rankings, which measure the nation's top players and coaches at each position.

But he has developed into more of a post player as the season has progressed. That much became evident last week when Durant collected 37 points and 23 rebounds in a 76-64 triumph over Texas Tech.

We consequently have switched Durant's position in the power rankings, where he replaces Oklahoma State's Mario Boggan as the top power forward.

Durant wasn't the only Big 12 player to move to the top of the charts.

Texas A&M's Acie Law is our new No. 1 point guard after leading the Aggies to huge back-to-back victories over Kansas and Texas. Law compiled 21 points, 15 assists and only one turnover Monday in a 100-82 triumph over the Longhorns.

Law moved ahead of Marquette's Dominic James, who shot 2-for-11 and scored just six points last week in a 69-62 victory over Providence.

Florida's Billy Donovan also soared to the top of the head coach rankings after leading the Gators on a 14-game winning streak. Donovan displaced Wisconsin's Bo Ryan, whose Badgers had won 17 in a row before falling 71-66 to Indiana last week.

UCLA shooting guard Arron Afflalo, Wisconsin small forward Alando Tucker and Ohio State center Greg Oden remained atop their respective positions in this week's edition of the power rankings.

A pair of shooting guards made the biggest rises.

Iowa's Adam Haluska jumped from 23rd to ninth on the list of shooting guards, while Florida's Lee Humphrey entered that chart in the No. 16 spot.

Haluska earned Big Ten player of the week honors after scoring 33 points in an 81-75 victory over Iowa. Humphrey has shot 30-of-45 from 3-point range in the Gators' last eight games.

In other chart news, Michigan State's Drew Neitzel joined Durant in making a position switch. After being rated as the No. 19 point guard last week, he now is listed as the No. 17 shooting guard.

We will update the rankings weekly throughout the rest of the season. For our purposes, the power rankings will reflect those games played Tuesday through Monday.

The rating of a player and coach can fluctuate each week, but the power rankings measure their overall careers as well as their most recent performances.

By the end of the season, our power rankings should provide an accurate indicator of which players were the best at their respective positions.
