College football teams that win on Signing Day usually win on Saturdays, too.
But sometimes those victorious Saturdays come a year or two later.
The 2006 college football recruiting classes of five Big 12 teams were ranked among the nation's top 25 by Rivals.com, yet the full impact of those classes hasn't yet been felt because many highly touted players sat out redshirt years last season.
In fact, Rivals.com's list of the nation's top 100 prospects included five Big 12 players that did not see game action as true freshmen. The prospects of them making significant contributions increase substantially this season. The linemen have added muscle, receivers and backs have adjusted to a faster, more physical game - or they will simply have a better opportunity to play because previous starters are gone.
