It's getting close to signing day which means it's time for Florida State to make its annual run in recruiting. The 'Noles' got some good news Friday afternoon when four-star defensive end Jamar Jackson selected FSU over Virginia Tech during a press conference at his school.

He let FSU head coach Bobby Bowden and recruiting coordinator John Lilly know about his decision this morning.

"I really felt comfortable with Coach Bowden, and that's what it really came down to," Jackson said. "I like the tradition of Florida State... And opportunity to go to the pros"

Going into this week, the Rivals250 member was torn between the 'Noles and Hokies but an in-home visit from Bowden made all the difference.

"When coach Bowden visited Tuesday, my parents and I just felt really comfortable with Coach Bowden," Jackson said.

The Varina High School standout, who is being recruited to play either defensive end or linebacker, becomes FSU's 10th verbal commitment for the recruiting class of 2007.

Within the past two weeks, Jackson narrowed his list of schools down to FSU and Virginia Tech. Prior to that he was also considering Boston College, Louisville, NC State.

Rivals.com rates Jackson as the nation's No. 6 weakside defensive end and the 8th best prospect in the state of Virginia.

In the classroom, Jackson is on track to qualify with a 3.0 GPA.
