After winning his state championship this past Saturday, four-star receiver DeAngelo Benton said he has some big plans. No, the Bastrop, La., standout isn't going to Disney World. He's heading to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to play in the inaugural Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.

"It's the perfect way to celebrate the state championship," Benton, the nation's No. 35 player and No. 6 receiver, said. "I was really excited when I first got invited, but I then got so caught up with the state championship run. After the game, I remember again that I'm now going to play in the All-American Bowl. That's a great reward for the season."

Five facts about DeAngelo Benton
• His personal hero: His mother.
• His sports hero: Chad Johnson.
• What he wants to accomplish in life: Earn a college degree and start a family.
• Plans to major in business management in college.
• Committed to LSU on May 25, turning down offers from Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Ole Miss and others.
It was a season that saw him lead his team to a Class 4A state title in New Orleans.

"I had four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown," Benton said. "I finally got over the 1,000 yard mark, too. I've now got a state title and All-American on my résumé."

Benton, a long time LSU commitment, said he's looking forward to the trip to sunny Florida for a number of different reasons.

"I'm really excited to see where we're staying, the hotel, the beach, the other players and the women," Benton said. "I just know it's going to be an incredible experience."

The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU on Jan. 4.

Benton said LSU fans should tune in to see what they're going to get out of the 6-foot-3, 195-pound playmaker.

"They're going to see what I'm all about," Benton said. "I like to win, and I like to score touchdowns. My game is pretty simple."

When he was alerted that he will get a chance to play with fellow LSU commitments Josh Dworaczyk, Jarvis Jones and Jarrett Lee in the game, Benton was even more excited about the game.

"That's really big news," Benton said. "I can't wait to hook up with my future quarterback."
