JB's Stock Report: Five On The Rise In SC

During the camp season and May evaluation period, there always are multiple prospects that go from unknown to wanted man in a short period of time.

In this week's edition of JB's Stock Report, we take a look at  Five on the Rise - several prospects who already are starting to emerge in the class of 2007. Included are two offensive linemen, a wide receiver, a quarterback, and a defensive back.

JB's Stock Report: Since 1997, SCVarsity.com has provided South Carolina football and recruiting fans with the best recruiting information anywhere. JB's Stock Report is not a prediction of the upcoming recruiting class, but rather a list of players that are getting serious attention - some in the form of offers. As the players become hot "commodities" among the recruiting circles, they will be added to the Stock Report.

Kyle Fischer, Columbia (SC) Spring Valley

Position: Offensive Tackle
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 287 Pounds
Think we've found the state's top offensive lineman yet? Not a chance. There's a lot of talk about the load of talent on the front line of the Spring Valley Vikings and while Fischer is not the one getting all of the attention right now, he is the one that I think has the most upside potential. Of the three OL's on this team that are getting love from recruiters, Fischer graded out the highest last year. Look for his recruiting stock to sky rocket when coaches realize he's a diamond in the ruff.

"He's the best lineman I faced all year," -- Garrett Anderson, Dutch Fork HS (University of South Carolina signee)

Brandon King,  Columbia (SC) Ridge View

Position: Wide receiver
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 190 pounds
Brandon has caught my eye during his work outs in Columbia's Athlete's Arena. He played as a sophomore at Ridge View before moving away last year, where he played in Missouri. He's back in the Palmetto State for his senior year with the Blazers. He's got excellent speed (4.6) and a 32 inch vertical. He' runs extremely smooth. If he can polish his route running skills and have sticky hands this season, he has a chance to be something very special. He has an invite already to USC's one day camp this Summer.

Marquis Coleman, Chester (SC) Chester

Position: Corner back
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 180 pounds
Extremely athletic and has exclellent speed. Started on both sides of the ball for Coach Victor Floyd. On offense, he rushed for 920 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 6.7   yards per carry. On defense, he had 58 tackles, 5 interceptions - two returned for touchdonws. He has one offer on the table - from Kentucky - but will see his stock rise this Spring and Summer.

C.J. Matthews,  West Columbia (SC) Airport

Position: Offensive Lineman
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 320 pounds
CJ has been popular with the recruiters since he stepped on the Varsity field three years ago. You can't coach size and he definitely has that. He's got some work to do in his technique, but he's athletic for a big man and has a solid upside potential to him. He has one offer on the table - from Kentucky - and from reports I have, Colorado is going to be watching him at Spring Practice.

Mark Cann, Landurm (SC) Landrum

Position: Quarterback
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 210 pounds
This Southpaw threw for 1,988 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2005. He's getting interest from seveal schools, including NC State who was in his school this past week. He plans on camping (senior camps)  at Vanderbilt, Alabama, Maryland, Georgia, and North Carolina. He has a live arm and quite frankly only needs to be evaluated by some recruiters before the offers start coming in. As of right now, has to be considered second best quarterback in the class of 2007 for South Carolina.
