Bayless on another scoring spree

Arizona's top 2007 recruit, Jerryd Bayless, is once again showing off his immense skills as a scorer and the junior guard from Phoenix is on yet another huge scoring spree of late.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound future Wildcat is on a three-game run in which he has scored 40 or more points to up his state-leading scoring average to 37.6 points per game.

Bayless also averages over nine assists per game and has been the driving force behind his St. Mary's team advancing to the 5A state tournament after once again winning the Desert Valley region this season.

After 26 games, Bayless has scored 978 points on the year, setting a new school record and closing in on the state single-season record of 1,071 points held by former Arizona All-American Mike Bibby from Shadow Mountain HS.

He is also closing in on Lawrence Westbrook's single-season state record of 40.1 points per game set in 2004-05.

Bayless has topped the 40-point mark in a game 11 times so far this year.
