McBryde commits

AUBURN | Richard McBryde couldn't wait any longer. The long-time lean to Auburn finally made it official Saturday morning when he committed to the Tigers.

"I've gotten a lot of love from Auburn since I've been coming there," McBryde said. "I like everything up there, especially head coach Gus Malzahn. When you hang out with the head coach, that's special. I just wanted to get it out of the way before my senior season.

"It feels great now that I'm committed."

McBryde, from Charles Henderson in Troy, Ala., chose Auburn over 15 other offers including Alabama, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Miami and Nebraska.

McBryde, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, could play linebacker or the Star position in the Tigers' 4-2-5 defense.

"They told me I could play Star or Will linebacker," he said, "It doesn't matter to me as long as I can blitz."

McBryde is Auburn's 19th commitment for the 2015 class. He is rated a 4-star and the nation's No. 18 outside linebacker by Rivals.com. Auburn assistants Scott Fountain and Charlie Harbison were McBryde's primary recruiters.

"I have a great relationship with Coach Fountain and all their coaches. We've known each other for a long time and we've been real cool," McBryde said.
