Elite 2016 WR commits

AUBURN | Auburn landed one of the nation's most elite 2016 players on Monday night.

Tampa (Fla.) wide receiver Nate Craig announced his commitment to the Tigers via twitter after spending the last three days on the Plains for an unofficial visit. He is the third commit for the 2016 class joining Landon Rice and running back Jalin Buie.

"First off I wanna Thank God for blessing me with the talent I have, and want to thank all the schools that recruited me," Craig tweeted. "I will be taking my talents to Auburn University."

The 6-foot-3, 192 pounder named Auburn his early leader in April, and his relationship with receivers coach Dameyune Craig goes far beyond the football field -- something the rising junior values.

"We have a great relationship," Craig told AuburnSports.com after his visit on Saturday. "We are like family -- we share the same name so he calls me his nephew. He is just a great guy. He is probably the one coach that I am the closest to. We talk more than just football. I look up to him in a lot of ways."

During his visit, Auburn's offensive coaches sat down with the potential five-star and went over their schemes for how they plan to utilize the passing more. The talk opened his eyes tremendously.

"They showed me all the top receivers they had coming in and coming back," he said. "They have a great offense. I could be a playmaker. They told me they want to balance it more. They have two receivers that can go in the first round next year. That's something to consider."

Craig pledged to the Tigers over Ohio State and Clemson.
