Less than four days from national signing day, Virginia Tech didn't have to wait that long to add a big piece to its defense.
Village Academy (Fla.) three-star defensive end Kevin Bronson confirmed to HokieHaven.com that he's committed to Virginia Tech. He chose the Hokies over South Florida, which was also in his top two.
Bronson officially visited Virginia Tech last weekend, a week after officially visiting South Florida. He also officially visited nearby Florida Atlantic over the past few days, as well as Rutgers last month.
Bronson becomes commitment No. 26 for the Hokies, which impressed him on his official visit. But his bond with assistant coach Charley Wiles also played a big role.
"I like the system they run defensively," Bronson said. "I have a great relationship with my position coach, Coach Wiles. It's nothing but a family-like program up there and the coaches have been there a while. I also think Bud Foster is the best defensive coordinator in the nation."
Bronson is listed as a strongside defensive end, but with the Hokies, he'll also play more inside. He told HokieHaven.com last week after his visit that he likes the options that could present.
"I like what Coach Wiles was telling me, because it creates mismatches and it's awesome to get one-on-ones," Bronson said. "I feel good about it after talking with him. Inside, my quickness allows me to be successful, just getting off the ball and creating havoc in the backfield. Then, I can disrupt everything."
Bronson said he'll officially sign his letter of intent Wednesday.
