UCF lands Georgia DL
UCF has struck again the Peach State.
The Knights have picked up their third Georgia pledge and the eighth in the Class of 2014 from A.J. Wooten, a defensive lineman from Berrien High School in Nashville, Ga.
The pledge was first reported by Albany's WALB-TV.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Wooten told UCFSports.com that coaches plan to utilize him at both defensive end and defensive tackle. He had been high on UCF since attending the Junior Day in March.
"UCF has great coaches and a great player atmosphere," Wooten said in a text. "I know I'm going to have fun down there, but I'll also work hard."
The new coach at Berrien is Georgia high school coaching legend Ed Pilcher, who led Thomas County Central to five state championships between 1992 and 1997. One of his star players from the era was running back Joe Burns, who went on to have an illustrious career for George O'Leary at Georgia Tech.
UCFSports.com plans to catch up again with Wooten later on Tuesday when he's available to do a phone interview.
Wooten joins fellow South Georgians Wyatt Miller and Chavis Dickey in UCF's class. All were recruited by linebackers coach Tyson Summers, who is a native of Tifton.
