UM Peppers' 'best visit'

The Michigan Wolverines are no stranger to hosting high-profile recruits and Thursday Jabrill Peppers stopped in Ann Arbor to see what all the buzz is about.

"I loved it," said the second overall prospect in the Rivals100. "It was a great, great first impression. I grew up a Michigan fan so that certainly helps the cause. I had a lot of fun. It was more than what I expected. I had good expectations for the visit but they definitely exceeded them."

Michigan is one of the cornerback's top schools and he was eager to learn more about the program.

"The coaching staff is very down to earth," said the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Peppers. "They are very cool, laid-back people but when it's time to work, it is time to work. They coach those players hard, which I love. The main thing I liked about them was that they reminded me of my coaches right now.

"I was only there for a couple of hours and I felt like I was at home," he said. "Coach Hoke is a very down-to-Earth guy, but he is also going to coach you up and make sure you are on the right path. It was a great experience."

One of the things many players look forward to on college visits is a chance to talk with current players to make sure they fit in.

"The players are as real as they get," said the Paramus (N.J.) Paramus Catholic product. "They like to keep it what I call '100,' completely honest. They answered all my questions with compete honesty and that's all you can ask for. They weren't selling me a dream or anything like that."

It is odd to think Peppers was only three hours from stopping to visit Ohio State, one of his other top schools, when he made those comments.

"Now I don't even know what to expect anymore," Peppers laughed. "Michigan just completely exceeded my expectations. I'm just going to have to see how Michigan and Ohio State pair up and it should be a great experience but Michigan was probably one of the best visits I've been on without a doubt. Everything felt right."

Recently another school joined Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame and Stanford as a contender for Peppers.

"LSU fits right in with everyone else," he explained. "I don't know much about them but, after doing some research, I do know they are 'DB U.' They're in the SEC and in Louisiana they have some great football. I'm really anxious to see a lot of places and to see how everyone pairs up with each other so I can narrow this thing down."

Peppers is unsure of when he will take the next step in his recruitment.

"I'll probably narrow it down to two or three and then take my officials but I don't know when that might happen."

Peppers recently announced that he will play in the Under Armour All-American Game.
