HD: New staff 'pushing' the team, Uzomah says

Former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen took to Twitter on Monday to heap praise upon rising junior tight end C.J. Uzomah. Lutzenkirchen said, "kid's a beast, better person off the field. He could break every tight end record in Gus' offense."

Uzomah had a small opportunity to prove himself in 2012, but entering this spring, the tight end position and H-back position is his to lose. Uzomah talks about the coaching transition this offseason, the dynamic changes in the offense from 2012 to 2013 and digesting new information as spring ball approaches.

ON THE COACHING TRANSITION: It wasn't tough, we were just working forward and trying to get better. Coach (Gus) Malzahn is preaching a new day, it's just different. It's a different offense, a different structure, it's a good thing. It wasn't hard to adjust to that. The communication between the players and the coaches is what we're working on, and we pretty much have that developed.

We're trying to get our edge back -- they are pushing us mentally and physically right now. They are throwing a lot at us to see how we will react, and we're reacting well right now. That's always a good thing. They aren't throwing too much at us like we're running around like chickens with our heads cut off. They are throwing a good amount so we can learn it and digest it and know what to expect from us.
