Auburn adds two more staffers

TWITTER- FACEBOOK-

AUBURN | The Tigers' auxiliary staff continues to grow.

Coach Gus Malzahn has hired a pair of respected high school coaches -- Dell McGee from Carver High in Columbus, Ga., and Brent Dearmon from B.C. Rain near Mobile - to serve Auburn in off-the-field capacities. The program recently has added at least five men with backgrounds either as college assistants or high school head coaches.

Spain Park High coach Chip Lindsey was hired last week.

Auburn plans to use them in a variety of different roles that are yet to be determined. A set of new NCAA rules that take effect in August permit telephone contact between recruits and off-the-field coaches.

McGee's name should be familiar to fans.

The Columbus native played defensive back on the Plains from 1992-95 and was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals after his senior season. McGee just finished his eighth season at Carver-Columbus, where he amassed an 88-19 record.

McGee guided his team to the the Class AAA state semifinals four times, which included a championship run in 2007.

Dearmon, who just finished his second season at B.C. Rain, is best known for his three-year stint as Vigor's offensive coordinator. The Wolves went 15-0 during the 2008 season, which culminated in a Class 5A championship.

His father, Roger, served as head coach at Mary Montgomery and Davidson.

"I want to thank the people at B.C. Rain for the opportunity to make a name for myself," Brent Dearmon told AuburnSports.com. "I also want to thank Auburn for giving me the opportunity. I'm really excited about working for Gus Malzahn."
