Milton readies for return

As the Warhawks get ready to break fall camp on Wednesday, no one is more anxious to get back on the field than senior Keavon Milton. The Canton, Texas tight end had last season cut short after fracturing his leg.

"I've been doing rehab, ice tubs, stretches, just a little bit of everything to make sure that I bounce back this season, which I feel that I will do this year," the 6'4", 293 pounder said. "We have a great group of guys, we can't complain and the pressure is all on us as seniors to make happen this year."

In the off season, Milton has taken on the role of a coach, taking the under classmen under his wing to leave his mark on the ULM program.

"We've been watching film, learning more about blocking and when to break on passes, hitting the weight room where we have competitions with one another," he said. "For us as tight ends, we are going to have a great season."

Perhaps the biggest pressure on Milton and the Warhawks though is to snap the school's bowl drought in 2012.

"In the past we've had some teams that could've done it, but with the majority of the team coming back from last year, there's a since of urgency. I feel like I can't settle for losing anymore; I'm just so ready to get this season underway."

Should Milton go down again with injury this season, or looking ahead to next season, the Warhawks will have a trio of options in Kevin Stead, Harley Scioneaux, and Alec Osborne. All three of these, he feels will continue the ULM tradition of having strong players at the position.

"I think Stead and Harley are getting stronger and have great hands, but Alec being a freshman will get where he needs to be, he just needs to put on some weight, just as any freshman would."

ULM will continue fall drills for the coming weeks, as they count down to kickoff on September 8 vs. Arkansas.
